2.0 Overview

The Application Launcher provides abstraction to various application models and exposes common API to different subsystems in the platform for an application model. It is a plug-in based architecture, where each application model plug-in provides a general command interface and implements interfaces to launch and kill application instances. They encapsulate the functionality and the internal details of the application model. These plug-ins provide a way to extend and interface Application Launcher with legacy application models. Plug-ins can be loaded and unloaded at runtime.
