What is the Platform PDF Imprimer Envoyer

The LiMo Foundation Platform is being developed to enable the design, development and deployment of mobile phone devices based on a modular, plug-in architecture built around an open operating system with a secure run-time environment for the support of downloaded applications.

The LiMo Foundation has selected Linux as the core technology for the LiMo Foundation Platform due to its rich functionality, scalability and excellent record of success within mobile embedded systems, the scope to easily cross-platformize with other categories such as consumer electronics and automotive, and the potential to engage the large community of Linux developers into the mobile arena.

Applications can access middleware components through a well-defined API and interface model. Middleware components are implemented natively in C and expose interfaces for applications equally using C language.

The LiMo Foundation Platform is designed to be hardware independent so that LiMo Foundation member companies that create a LiMo-powered handset have the flexibility to choose any hardware chipset solution to meet their needs.

Where possible, the LiMo Foundation Platform architecture leverages existing standards and open source projects to accelerate the development and acceptance of the Platform. Through a transparent and balanced contribution process, the LiMo Foundation is leveraging the benefits of community-based and proprietary development to create the Platform – a best of both worlds approach.
